The Department of Mathematics has recently taken lead in elevating itself to Post-graduate level during 1998 under self-financing system. Apart from this at undergraduate level Mathematics is being offered since 1951. M.Sc. Applied Maths mainly deals with computer languages like C and C++ and computational techniques. The incorporation of the course is to use the computers in the present day trend and its impact on the programming for the higher level mathematical students which will help to pursue higher studies in Applied Maths including the studies leading to Ph.D. or research oriented scientific studies of organizations like Defense labs., BARC, ECIL, NFC etc.
The college has a placement cell, where many I.T. companies conduct the campus selections and Mathematics students have an attraction for them.
The faculty has good research experience with an exposure to various research problems. The following list gives the main areas in which the departmental staff members advanced in their researches like Fluid Mechanics, Bio-mechanics, Computational Fluid dynamics and Magneto hydro-dynamics, Mathematical modelling. Intake of students in the M.Sc. Applied Mathematics course is 50 and undergraduate course is 200. The following staff members are working at present in the Mathematics Department:
